Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) programs have been implemented in Ontario to ensure the safe operation of large trucks on the province’s roads. These programs require a minimum of 103.5 hours of instruction, covering the essential knowledge and skills needed for aspiring truck drivers. Successful completion of MELT, along with meeting other Class A requirements, enables candidates to take the Class A road test at a Drive Test center. Moreover, the training acquired through MELT remains valid for life.
